Jasper van den Berg (NL, 1992) is an artist and artistic director with a focus on performance and visual arts. He graduated as an urban cultural sociologist from the University of Amsterdam and began his career as an artistic researcher and creative producer at Company New Heroes, where he worked on international projects on democracy, science, and sustainability. He developed and led arts/science education projects for the Amsterdam Light Festival while simultaneously building his own performance practice. Jasper attended performance schools in Amsterdam, London, and Berlin and has presented both intimate and interactive works across various venues.
In his artistic practice Jasper investigates and brings contemporary stories to life. He’s driven by a sense of urgency to involve a broad audience in complex phenomena, critically investigating and poetically discussing the balance between the individual and the communal. Deep curiosity, intuitive exploration, and the need for connection with others form the mix of Jasper’s creative journeys. Seamlessly switching between roles and art forms, his work results in performances, installations, exhibitions, and in-depth programs. This leads to a kaleidoscope of forms that challenge norms and bring about profound introspection.
He currently combines his artistic practice with his work for instrument inventors initiative as Agency Coordinator, supporting artists, coordinating collaborations, and translating artistic visions into sustainable structures, driven by a strong belief in the transformative power of art.
Over the past years, Jasper worked at home and abroad with a long list of artists and organizations: Amsterdam Light Festival, ARSENAAL/LAZARUS, ARTIS Micropia, De Balie, Company New Heroes, CTM, DAAD Artists-in-Berlin program, Dance Theatre AYA, Dutch Culture, Dutch Design Week, European Parliament, Hosek Contemporary, IN SITU, Internationaal Theater Amsterdam, instrument inventors initiative, Museum De Fundatie, Municipality of Amsterdam, Østfold Internasjonale Teater, De Parade, The Performance Bar, Quantum Delta NL, REWIRE, Staatstheater Mainz, Theater aan Zee, TED X, University of Amsterdam, University of Applied Sciences Amsterdam and Het Zuidelijk Toneel
